My husband was about to throw away hard bagels and I stopped him, insisting that I would make use of the bagels as they were only a couple of days old and that’s exactly what I did!  I was so proud of myself until he tried them and said, “Excellent, no need to ever buy croutons again!”  Ummm, yeah, not so sure about that.

Ingredients:

  • Bread slices (or bagels)
  • Melted salted butter
  • Italian seasoning

 

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.

 

  1. Cut bread slices up into squares and place into a mixing bowl.

 

  1. Melt butter and then pour over the bread slices so that they are lightly coated but not soaked. Toss to better coat.

 

  1. On a baking sheet, place the coated bread squares.

 

  1. Sprinkle Italian seasoning over the bread squares.

 

  1. Bake in the oven for 5 minutes and check to see if golden brown. Bake for up to 5 minutes more if desired.
