My husband was about to throw away hard bagels and I stopped him, insisting that I would make use of the bagels as they were only a couple of days old and that’s exactly what I did! I was so proud of myself until he tried them and said, “Excellent, no need to ever buy croutons again!” Ummm, yeah, not so sure about that.
Ingredients:
- Bread slices (or bagels)
- Melted salted butter
- Italian seasoning
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 375°F.
- Cut bread slices up into squares and place into a mixing bowl.
- Melt butter and then pour over the bread slices so that they are lightly coated but not soaked. Toss to better coat.
- On a baking sheet, place the coated bread squares.
- Sprinkle Italian seasoning over the bread squares.
- Bake in the oven for 5 minutes and check to see if golden brown. Bake for up to 5 minutes more if desired.
