Surprisingly there are many ways to cook Basmati rice. Some insist on adding salt, some add oil and some add butter. The dishes I serve with Basmati rice are so flavourful that I prefer to keep this already delicious rice simple.
Yield: 3 to 4 servings
Ingredients:
- 1 cup Basmati rice
- 2 cups water
Directions:
- In a bowl, rinse the rice with water and drain the water out. Set the bowl aside.
- In a small to medium saucepan on medium heat, bring 2 cups of water to a boil.
- Add the rice to the saucepan and cover. Let boil until the water has almost all dried up which will take about 5 to 10 minutes and then remove from heat but keep covered for an additional 2 minutes. NOTE: Be sure to watch the rice as it will stick to the bottom of the pan and/or burn if the heat is not turned off in time.
