These crispy chicken wings are easily made in the oven with very little mess. Whether you are looking for a light meal or an appetizer, this wing recipe is definitely a crowd pleaser. While this is my base recipe, I often serve the wings with sweet chili sauce, plum sauce or a tangy hot sauce and a side of veggie sticks, of course.
Ingredients:
- ⅔ cups flour
- 2 tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp garlic powder
- 2 tbsp paprika
- 3 tsp salt
- 1 tsp red chili powder (optional)
- ¼ cup butter
- Canola oil spray
- 24 wings (split)
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 450°
- Line a large baking sheet with foil. Spray with canola oil. Add the butter and place in the oven to melt. Remove the baking sheet once the butter has melted. Note: The butter can be omitted but the flavour and texture of the wings will not be the same.
- In a large Ziplock bag, combine the flour, black pepper, garlic powder, paprika and salt. Seal and shake together. Note: Add the red chili powder if desired.
- Open the large Ziplock bag and add 12 wings, seal and shake together to properly coat the wings.
- Line the baking sheet with the wings.
- Repeat steps 4 and 5 for the remainder of the wings.
- Bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove the baking sheet from the oven, flip the wings and return to the oven to bake for an additional 15 to 20 minutes.
