The kids are off for the summer and in my home, always seem to be hungry!  Inevitably, if I don’t plan ahead and have snacks ready, they will reach for the potato chips and crackers or whatever other delicious addictive junk food they can find in the cupboards.  While we all love that “stuff”, planning ahead for afternoon snacks will actually present a healthier option and avoid parent-guilt.

A few ideas for easy afternoon snacks:

  • Avocado toast
  • Berry bowl
  • Celery with peanut butter and raisins
  • Cheese and crackers
  • Cottage cheese and fruit
  • Edamame
  • Fruit kebabs
  • Fruit slices
  • Mini cucumber and cream cheese sandwiches
  • Nuts
  • Veggies and hummus
  • Yogurt or yogurt tubes
